More Easter Wine

Doppio Passo Botter Primitivo Salento IGT                LCBO # 255190       $10.50
This easy drinking wine is made for gentle sipping. It is fruit forward with a mixture of red and dark fruit such as ripe black berry, cherry and red currant. The grape used is the Primitivo which is the same grape genetically as the Zinfandel of California. The making of this wine has some interesting aspectrs. The initial wine is made in the normal traditional method of making red wine. Other grapes are left to dry in the vineyard. Once drying is complete these grapes are also pressed and fermented. The wine from the previously fermented grapes is then re-fermented over the must (left over pomace) from the first harvest. The result is a richer Primitivo wine with darker colour and fuller aroma than the regularly made wine.  This is a similar method of the Ripasso wines from Veneto.
The wine is ideal for drinking on its own but great with Glazed Ham or Duck or Stews and Game! Great value!    93 points

De Chanceny Rose Brut, Cremant De Loire, Loire Valley Bottle
De Chanceny Crement De Loire Rose Brut          LCBO # 211466            $19.95
A perfect treat for a dinner. This Traditional Method Sparkler is crisp and refreshing. With flavours of grapefruit, herbs, raspberry and strawberry it is an ideal accompaniment to roast turkey, ham and/or pork. The wine is made from 90% Cabernet Franc and 10% Grolleau Noir.   86 points.

Bottega Vino Dei Poeti Prosecco 2014, Doc Bottle
Bottega Vino Dei Poeti Prosecco                       LCBO #897702              $15.95
A classy wine from the great Bottega cellars. The Bottega family of Prosecco wines is well known for their craftsmanship and lovely labels. This example is no different with a touch of sweetness that is inviting and flavours of pear, apple and citrus on both nose and palate. Ideal with use as an aperitif or with grilled chicken, seafood or light meat.   88.5 points

Champagne Victoire Brut Prestige | LCBO
Champagne Victoire Brut Prestife             LCBO #190025                     $39.95
It is hard to believe that a high quality champagne such as the above could come at such a low price. Almost half the cost of a top champagne  this wine has all the trimmings. Great flavours of apple, pear, citrus and a touch of tropical fruit. The wine comes with a "Dry" description but I noted a hint of sweetness---but just a hint. The bubbles last and last. Highly recommended! It would be great on its own but fine with food such as pork, chicken and excellent with a rice/seafood dish. A super blend of Pinot Noir, Chardonnay and Pinot Meunier.                               90 points

Botter Amarone Della Valpolicella 2015, Docg Bottle
Botter Amarone Della Valpolicella               Vintages #496794                  $44.95
If you can get it this would be a fine food accompaniment for that roast turkey or duck dinner. Of course it would also match with game, osso buco and similar dishes. With loads of ripe black fruit ans spice flavours this wine would be a special treat.                                            92 points
