Canada Day Menu

Tino Fazio has proven that while he is Italian, his heart is very much Canadian. His Canada Day Menu is again culinery magic a la carte. His new menu which runs for the month of July sounds like this---Appetizer: Choice of Lobster bisque, P.E.I. Mussels or Tomato/Basil Salad. Main Course: Choice of Grilled Lamb Chops, Pan seared Scallops, Veal Loin Chop or Cedar Planked B.C. Salmon. Dessert: Baked Alaska or Apple Fondue! All this for $40. Match these entrees with one or two of Tino Fazio's 18,000 cellared bottles and you get perfection.
Now if I could arrange for Italy to have won the Euro Cup--------!!!
Speaking of wine, last night I opened up a 2003 Blomidon Estate Baco Noir. Blomidon, which is in the Annapolis Valley in Nova Scotia is known as the Tidal Winery since it is very close to saltwater on the North Shore of the Bay of Fundy. Who said that Baco does not age well?!
The wine was a weatlth of flavours with Blackberry, Plum and vegetable with a touch of saltiness (my imagination?) over a background of vanilla. A lovely wine that aged well. Too bad that was all I had! Nova Scotia is truly a good place for wine and I am looking forward to going there this fall!
